Understanding licences, permits, and insurance for your services

The licences, permits, and insurance relevant to your business depend on your services and where you operate. Creating a listing or completing Stripe verification does not establish that you meet those requirements.

Check requirements for the work

Contact the relevant local or national authorities before offering regulated services. Depending on the booking, questions may involve venue use, food or alcohol service, transport, or other activities. Requirements where a wedding takes place may differ from those where your business is based.

For starting points, see Canada's business setup resources (opens in a new tab) or the US Small Business Administration's business guide (opens in a new tab). For another country, consult its relevant authorities.

Review your insurance

Ask your insurer what your policy covers, including travel, subcontractors, equipment, and the type of event. Do not assume that using Your Wedding Atlas supplies business liability insurance or covers a particular loss. Obtain professional advice for your circumstances.
