If your tax number isn't accepted, first check that you've chosen the correct country and tax ID type. Different numbers for the same business can have different formats.
If your tax number isn’t accepted
Check the type of number
Use the number on the registration that matches the field you're completing. For example, a Canadian business number, a GST/HST account number, and a Quebec sales tax number aren't interchangeable.
These are illustrative formats, not numbers to enter for your business:
| Number type | Example format |
|---|---|
| Canadian business number | 123456789 |
| Canadian GST/HST number | 123456789RT0002 |
| Quebec sales tax number (QST) | 1234567890TQ1234 |
You can check Stripe's supported tax ID formats (opens in a new tab) for other number types. Your Wedding Atlas only offers the types supported by its current form.
Check the details you've entered
- Confirm the country and registration type.
- Compare the number with your official registration, including any required letters and account suffix.
- Remove accidental spaces from copied text and check for missing characters.
- Don't enter a personal identification number, such as a SIN or SSN.
Saving a number isn't confirmation that your tax registration is valid or that tax collection is ready.
If part of your submission was saved
Return to Tax settings and use Continue setup if it's shown. A registration may have saved even if its tax number didn't. Review the saved details and complete the missing information rather than adding the same registration again.
If you still can't continue, contact support with the country, number type, and message shown. Don't send your full tax number in a message or screenshot.
