Foreign-currency settlement fees for vendor bookings

Learn when the 2% foreign-currency settlement fee applies and how it affects a booking payment when your listing and payout currencies differ.

A 2% foreign-currency settlement fee applies when a booking is charged in a currency that differs from the settlement currency of your connected payout account.

This fee helps cover the additional cost of settling booking proceeds in a different currency.

When the fee applies

The fee applies when both of these are true:

  • The booking payment is charged in your listing’s currency.
  • Your connected payout account settles funds in a different currency.

For example, if your listing accepts payment in EUR and your connected payout account settles in CAD, the foreign-currency settlement fee applies to booking payments for that listing.

If the booking currency and your settlement currency are the same, this fee does not apply.

How it is calculated

The foreign-currency settlement fee is 2% of the booking payment. It is added to the standard 6.5% platform fee for that payment.

This means the total applicable vendor fee can be up to 8.5% when the foreign-currency settlement fee applies.

For a $100 customer payment:

  • Platform fee: $6.50
  • Foreign-currency settlement fee: $2.00
  • Expected earnings: $91.50

Amounts may vary slightly because of currency rounding.

Choose whether to include the fees in the customer’s total

When you create a payment request, use the Include fees setting to decide whether applicable fees are included in the customer’s total.

If you include fees, the customer’s total is adjusted so you receive the amount you enter after the applicable fees are deducted.

If you do not include fees, the platform fee and foreign-currency settlement fee are deducted from the customer’s payment amount.

When the fee is set

The applicable fee is determined when the payment plan is created and is shown in the payment breakdown before you send the request. It applies separately to each payment collected under that plan.
