Villa Astor
Sorrento, Campania
Venue
Villa Astor is a cliffside luxury villa overlooking the Bay of Naples, known for its extraordinary sea views, historic gardens, and refined Amalfi Coast setting. Its history dates back to the 1st century A.D., when Agrippa Postumus, grandson of Emperor Augustus, used the property as a residence. In 1905, Lord William Waldorf Astor purchased the villa and transformed it into a grand estate, expanding the grounds and creating the gardens where a Dominican monastery once stood. He also added the Pompeiian-style villa, decorated with Ionic columns and neoclassical frescoes. Over the years, Villa Astor has hosted notable guests including Princess Margaret, Rudolf Nureyev, Gregory Peck, Sophia Loren, Franco Zeffirelli, and Gianni Agnelli. Today, it is regarded as one of the Amalfi Coast’s most iconic luxury villas.
